With their reputation and bank balance taking a huge body blow after the explosive Note 7, Could the Galaxy S8 be Samsung’s most important phone to date?
We have all at one time fluffed our lines, missed that important penalty or messed up that perfect gymnastic dismount – it is all part of growing up but none of us have released an explosive phone. How do you come back from that? Well, according to Samsung, you pick yourself up and release a phone that the most loyal Apple fan will have to acknowledge as being “alright”.
Samsung Galaxy S8 release date and price
First things first… it is not cheap. This is the most expensive Galaxy that Samsung have ever launched. Some will claim its because of all the new tech crammed inside whilst others will claim its to recoup some of the £5billion lost during the great fire of 2016. The Samsung Galaxy S8 UK retail price has been set at £689. You will be able to get your hands on one from April 28th. Pre-orders have already begun.
Shut up Alexa, Bixby is talking
As mentioned above, the new S8 has some new tech and that comes in the form of Bixby. So what exactly is Bixby I hear you cry. Officially announced via a Samsung blog post, Bixby is Samsung’s all new AI system that’s designed to make device interaction easier, specifically designed to avoid the complexity of increasingly fully-featured devices. Think Siri’s and Alexa’s new baby brother.
This baby however will not be confined to a it’s own room as Samsung have plans to roll Bixby out across a wider range of devices from SmartTVs to fridges.
This is the moment where Samsung take off the white gloves and put on a pair of boxing gloves. First blow… no physical home button on the screen. Now for the jabs… rear fingerprint scanner, water- and dust-resistant, iris scanner. Now for the uppercut – Headphone jack. Technically not a design feature but who in their right mind would design a phone without a headphone jack?
This phone is ALL screen in the hand. The 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display is bright and colorful – what you come to expect from Samsung’s premium range.
As we have not got our hands on one to offer a full review, you will have to wait to find out if fat fingers can utilise this almost bezel free beauty. One thing for sure is this phone is going to make us forget the fires of Summer 16. One more look? Here you go…
