I know, I know, the cold weather is back and so is the need for a good foundation to cover up those sallow faces worldwide. Sure, there is practically always something quite attractive about a shiny nose or a bit of redness in the cheeks but for most, a selection of matte foundations is more than perfect for everyone, without little complaint.

What you’re looking for in a good matte foundation is lightness but with good coverage. Most mattes have one of something but lacking in another so here is the list of matte foundations, perfect for a silky, no-chalky-feel coverage that covers up all those pesky marks without drying out your skin.

Givenchy's Eclat Matissime

Givenchy’s Eclat Matissime isn’t the cheapest of foundations but at £32, it is a very airy light fluid that reveals a beautifully fine texture & glow of the skin. It has Ginger & Cinnamon actions to make you feel fresh and beautiful all day long. I have used this product before and have been very pleasantly surprised by the length of time the matte foundation lasts, it stays on for hours and has a very gentle appearance, and doesn’t clog pores.

Bobbi Brown Foundation

Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation usually, this foundation is around £30 but allbeauty is selling it between £14.95 and £24.95. It is a beautiful oil-free, all-day wear foundation and has a very soft-matte effect, creating even-looking skin without the need to pile on powder or more foundation throughout the day. Made with sponge-like powders that absorb excess oil on the surface of the skin making sure there is no shine visible.

Estée Lauder, Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup

Estee Lauder Double Wear I adore Estée Lauder and this one is a foundation that never fades, It is around £28.50, but the bottle is 30ml with quite a lot in there. The foundation never changes colour and sits on your skin throughout heat, humidity and keeps your skin looking fabulously fresh and almost make-up free. The finish has a silky effect but is also matte meaning it doesn’t clog up your pores and keeps your skin looking fresh and vibrant. The shades for this foundation vary as well meaning that whatever your skin shade, you will find a foundation colour suitable for your skin tone.

Peter Thomas Roth Un Wrinkle Foundation

Peter Thomas Roth Un Wrinkle Foundation is a foundation that is absolutely beautiful and completely flawless. I actually bought this foundation by accident a few weeks ago because I didn’t realise it was an un-wrinkle foundation but boy OH boy is it special. The foundation is formulated with a unique blend of six anti-ageing Peptides and Neuropeptides which is designed to target deep wrinkles and facial expression lines which are usually found on the brow and around the eyes whilst covering scars, imperfections, marks and spots all the while protecting the skin. This foundation is fortified with vitamins A, C and E which work harmoniously to combat oxidative stress.

Nars foundation

NARS Immaculate Complexion Sheer Matte Foundation This sheer matte foundation from Nars is probably one of the best foundations I have ever used. I only used this once because I had my make-up done at a counter when they used this amazing foundation on me. It is an oil-free, soft  matte-finish foundation with a really beautiful sheer, buildable coverage that controls oil and shine throughout the day. I had this make-up applied in the morning and by the evening my face still looked dewy and fresh all day long. The cost of this foundation varies, but from one of my favourite sites, it is available for £30.50 at HQhair with various shades available.
