The Lawrence Effect!

Named as one of the best dressed women in the world and with a starring part in the film/book trilogy that has taken Hollywood by storm, it’s fair to say, 22-year-old Jennifer Lawrence is in high demand. With bright blue eyes, feline features and a natural shape, Jennifer often features on the cover of magazines worldwide. So, if you too are under the influence of Miss Lawrence, and want to get her look, here’s how:

Jennifer has made no secret of the fact she prefers going out without make-up on, but for red carpet events – she likes to go for understated, yet glamorous looks. Recently, she walked the Gatsby red carpet wearing next to no make-up at all – and still looked utterly fabulous, with just a small amount of mascara, tinted moisturiser and blusher.

Jennifer likes to accentuate her feline features with smokey eyes, a natural lip and rosy blushed cheeks, a look she rarely strays from. For a quick and easy smokey eye look (and for someone with little make-up experience) Benefit’s Eyenessa’s Easiest Nudes Ever is perfect, as it provides a creamy base, and a dark crease-line colour for that all important dark smokey effect. For Jen’s natural lip, try Famous Cosmetics Spot Light Lipgloss in the shade ‘Crush’. It adds a dash of natural looking colour and effortless shine, without that sticky effect that many glosses tend to give. For the cheeks, I’d go for Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess bronzer in medium deep. Although expensive, it gives a flawless bronzed glow, defines your cheekbones and looks very natural.

It’s fair to say that Jennifer has had a few wardrobe mishaps in her short, yet very successful run as red carpet queen. At the SAG awards in January, Jen got her Dior dress caught in a metal chair, meaning that when she went to collect her award, a little of the underskirt ripped – revealing more than she bargained for. Jen, in true ‘Lawrence’ style, laughed it off – and graciously accepted her award!

Despite claiming that she’s ‘never been one for fashion’ Jennifer Lawrence causes a stir whenever she hits the red carpet, consistently getting it right with her bold, yet feminine looks. Off the red carpet, Jennifer goes for tight fitted dresses, skirts and jumpers, showing off her gorgeous figure but still managing to pull off a very laid back, chilled feel. For girlie, red carpet glamour (or if you want to re-create Jen’s look for your prom, or another special occasion) try Lipsy’s VIP collection, which has a variety of Jen inspired gowns. For casual Jennifer glamour, try Miss Selfridge (for denim jackets and maxi dresses) or Boohoo (for bodycon midi dresses).

Did you know, when Jennifer appeared on the red carpet recently with a textured bob, she’d actually had the ‘chop’ just an hour earlier. Apparently, when her hair stylist turned up – she requested the new shorter look on a whim. A girl who knows what she wants!

Jennifer’s hair ranges in colour and length depending on what she’s filming at a specific time. In the months that she is filming the Hunger Games, she opts for Katniss’ dark, wavy locks – whilst at other times – she sticks to her natural blonde waves. Luckily, Jennifer can pull both looks off, but personally – I prefer her dark blonde, with a few golden highlights, as it brings out her eyes and her natural glow. To get Jen’s natural waves, wash your hair with a volume boosting conditioner such as Milkshake’s Volume Solution Conditioner before lightly towel drying and brushing through. For textured, yet styled waves spritz a little of Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray through the ends of your locks, and scrunch gently. To finish, run a few drops of Argan oil through the ends (for added shine) and blast with a hairdryer.
