Anna, you have been endearingly
open with your own mental health
difficulties. When did you first
experience anxiety?
I was a young, 25 years old professional girl
presenting kids TV programmes for ITV and
suddenly I was faced with my first emotional
breakdown. Looking back, the trigger was a
lot of people-pleasing and a lot of stress which
I hadn’t noticed building up. I just hadn’t seen
the triggers and you really don’t the first time.
I hadn’t seen what was unravelling because
I couldn’t identify with what I was feeling
because no one had talked to me about
mental health at that point and I was also in
a controlling relationship with a guy all at the
same time.
Talking about the media, how do
you feel about how mental health is
portrayed in the media currently?
I have definitely noticed a more positive
attitude towards mental health within the
media recently. I think the media are starting to
understand the importance of open discussion
and not just sensationalising incidents with
attention grabbing headlines.
In the past, any mental health issue carried
a label that came with really negative
consequences. I think we are seeing a little
less of that now and I think people are starting
11
to understand and respect the fact that we all
have mental health issues. We now understand
there are many different points on the
spectrum, like physical health; from a common
cold to quadruple heart bypass, it’s the same
for mental health. Low level stress can lead
to something really quite significant and life
changing. The whole point is to normalise it.
Support for mental health in the work
place is something you are passionate
about; what services do you think could
improve the quality of support given to
those finding things difficult at work?
I also think companies are getting on board
now. It is really great to see as I have been
asked to deliver keynote speeches on this
topic for big companies across Hertfordshire.
Employers and employees are understanding
the importance of support because everybody
wins when you understand it.
Early intervention is absolutely key, it is being
able to know who to talk to in your work
place, having the relevant structure in place
for support like talking therapies, that way
hopefully, the support catches people before
they end up being signed off with long term
mental health sickness where nobody wins.
I think the main thing for employers to be
aware of is that they need to take the relevant
training to be able to understand, handle and
support anyone who is working with them.

Referring to your previous publications;
Breaking Mum and Dad, post-natal
mental health for both mums and dads
is a real issue affecting relationships
and bonds. What are your thoughts on
this?
Post-natal mental health is something that is
just starting to gain a little bit of the spotlight
with people starting to understand how
fundamentally important but flawed the help
is in this country. So much emphasis is placed
on the three trimesters, through pregnancy to
giving birth, but there is now this new fabled
fourth trimester, which is starting to get a lot
more headlines, and that is the three months
after you have given birth.
To be honest, it is much longer than 3 months.
My experiences were that I had perinatal
anxiety and had a previous anxiety condition.
There was very little support for me as I went
through my pregnancy and then coupled
with a pretty rubbish birth; the fall out I had
after having my son was off the scale. I was
diagnosed with very severe post-natal anxiety
and PTSD. I feel very strongly that both mums
and dads are given as much support as they
need in those early few weeks and months
after having a baby, because it is absolutely
life changing for everybody.
Do you think there is enough support
out there for new parents and help
for expecting parents to understand
the realities of those early months into
mother and fatherhood?
No, I don’t think there is enough support. I
think there is access to support if you know
where to look, but the whole point is knowing
where to look in the first place. And I think
particularly for first time parents; how do you
know what you are looking for if you don’t
know it exists and you don’t know what might
happen?
There is a very fine line between implanting
something in someone’s mind that may never
happen; you don’t want to scaremonger
someone that may never ever have to go down
that route.
I think particularly when it comes to antenatal
classes, there needs to be alot more emphasis
placed on the postnatal period and how both
mum and dad might be feeling in that time and
what help is accessible to them.
Too many parents struggling in those months
after birth. The fact that statistics coming
through show that the biggest cause of death
in new mothers is suicide and that is something
we really need to take notice of.
Page 13
Loss of confidence is a huge issue many
mums face when trying to return to
work. What advice would you give
a mother who feels held back by her
confidence?
I would say the first thing to remember being
a parent is a full-time job and like most jobs,
they are very demanding. For any parent
experiencing a lack of confidence when
it comes to returning to work, understand
you are absolutely not the first but part of a
majority of mothers who experience this.
Coming out of the baby bubble can be a huge
culture shock when you return to work because
you will be slightly different to how you had
been before.
You are now a mother, and
that will carry
with it all kinds
of feelings, from
worrying about
how your baby
is, if they are in
childcare, worrying
if you can do your
job well still, and
what I would say to
any mother going
back to work is, I’ve
been there and all of
my friends have to, just
be kind to yourself.
You don’t have to be
super woman; you really
don’t, because actually you
already are because you
are being a working mum!
What are your thoughts on millennials
being considered an anxious generation
and mental health concerns being at
an all-time high? Would you associate
social media with this?
Yes, I really do, I think it is no coincidence
that the digital age has kicked straight in with
millennials statistics on the increase suffering
with mental health concerns and challenges.
I think we have to be really aware of that,
social media is a big thing, it’s never going to
go away, we have all have social media, which
is great, but the important thing to remember is
to just have this life balance; life, phone, social
media, work balance.
And what I cannot promote
enough is taking time off of it
every day; and meeting people
in real life, face to face. Life
is all about balance, what
we eat, what we do, where
we go, everything is about
balance.
More so for millennials,
social media can feel
all-consuming and it is all
consuming to a point, but
always remember you
have a choice, you are
in control of how much
you use it.
Do yourself a favour
and don’t use it
24/7. Give yourself
a decent balance where you
actually get out and do other things that
don’t involve being on a device.

It’s been great watching you work with
the celebs in “celebs go dating”. Have
you found a difference with working
with the public and celebrities; are they
more challenging and have a few more
issue from being in front of the camera
compared to the general public?
The celebrities that come to me when they come
into the agency, they are just people. There
is no difference to me; the celebrities or Joe
Bloggs, the only differing factor is that they
come with this layer of being a “celebrity”, and
what does that mean? Well that comes with the
fact that people have a preconception of you,
and that can be more challenging.
So, what we have found with all of our
celebrities is that often their self confidence and
self-esteem is extremely challenged. People
might not believe that because they see these
very ballsy and energetic confident people on
their TV screens, but when you take away that,
and put them in what I would call and every
day scenario, you just see a person.
Dating is all about being your true self; so
stripping away that level of celebrity, is initially
really daunting to them. But when they come
through the agency for tips, tricks, techniques;
the dressing downs we give them are exactly
what we would give to everybody. I do find
they come in a bit more feisty and fiery than
perhaps Joe public.
It’s their shield and that’s what they
are known for; that’s the reason
they are on the telly, because they
are entertaining and they have often
got very good personalities. It means
they are great fun to work with and
it’s a real pleasure and honour to be
able to get into their heads and for
them to trust us to help them.

you to Anna for taking the time to

Cleanse and tone properly
We all know that we need a good skincare regime.
It starts with properly cleansing your skin and
applying toner. Cleansing removes built up makeup
and pollutants that can cause irritation if not
removed. Toning is also very important. It is a step
that is often missed out but is a must, especially in
changeable weather.
Toning the skin removes even more impurities,
that cleansing may have left behind. Not
only that, it helps to correct the pH balance
of your skin, making it the perfect barrier
against the changing seasons.

19
Apply a decent moisturiser
Most skin needs extra help in the winter, but with the
summer on its way, we usually don’t need a moisturiser
that is so thick. Look for moisturisers with at least a SPF
15 in to help protect against the sun’s harmful rays. Also
a good tip is to apply a serum before you moisturise onto
clean skin. This feeds the skin nutrients that enable it to
renew itself faster.
Wash your face with cool water
Cool or cold water helps keep your skin hydrated and
helps to keep pores tight. If using hot water, the heat can
actually dehydrate your skin. When you’re washing your
face, try to use cool water and do not scrub as this can
upset the normal balance of the skin. Opt for a gentle
cleanser and massage it on before rinsing, or use a clean
flannel to help lift off dead skin cells that can build up
and make the skin look dull.
Don’t over compensate with
makeup
Don’t get me wrong, I love makeup as much as the next
woman but caking it on can block pores and cause
problems. If you find that your skin needs more makeup
than usual coming out of winter, it could be because
it’s lacking in nutrients and is soaking up the makeup to
compensate for it. This is where the moisturiser will save
you! Also, a makeup primer can help make your makeup
last longer so you end up using less.
See a professional for facial
treatments regularly
There is nothing that can compare to having a skincare
professional help and guide you to get the best skin
possible. There is a vast array of treatments available
from facials to skin needling, peeling to exfoliate dead
skin cells and collagen boosting- All great for revealing
beautiful glowing skin. The only way I got my skin
looking the best possible was to do the treatments that I
offer on myself! Now I get all sorts of compliments, and
so can you!

enchanted forests, mysterious castles and
bewitching characters of folklore to create
‘wearable art’ for the 21st century woman.

The collection boasts true investment pieces that

THE FUTURE OF
THE HIGH STREET WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?
In light of Debenhams’ fall into administration and the closure of the
only LK Bennet in The Three Counties, it comes as no surprise that 61%
of Brits are worried that the high street will disappear completely over
the next ten years. But what can the High Street do to fight back?
19
Page 24
Key findings
61% of Brits are worried the high street will

store closures in the new
Northern cities have by far been worst hit by
store closures
Food and beverage, value and fashion brands
are predicted to face a tough time on the high
streets over the next 12 months.
Recent figures from various retail groups suggest
English and Welsh town centres have on average
lost 8% of their shops since 2013. This equates to
40 shops per town over the last six years.
The obvious factors include the rise of online
retail shopping, increased parking charges and
competition from takeaway delivery rivals such
as Uber Eats and Deliveroo rapidly who are
changing the take away/dining experience.
Shoppers have suffered for more than a decade
now with stagnant wages and relatively high
levels of inflation, forcing cash-strapped families
to make difficult spending decisions in order to
cut costs.
Clothing retailers have seen the biggest decline
since 2013, with more than 750 shops lost. That’s
bad news for the 383,000 people employed in
British clothing and footwear stores, almost three
quarters of them women, according to latest ONS
figures.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, thousands
of extra hair and beauty salons have sprung up in
our town centres.
Offering unique and tailored pampering services,
they are enticing many back to the high street who
previously would have been put off by expensive
parking fees.

Armillion has announced the launch of its new
“ArmillionAdamantos”contactless payment
bracelet, with 252 brilliant-cut diamonds on each
side and an increased spending limit of £1
million.
The “Armillion Adamantos”bracelet is a tribute to
the success of the 10 people who will have
the chance to own it. Adamantos is the etymology
of the word “diamond,” which means
indomitable, undefeatable; the attitude that will
define its owner’s legacy.
While they may be sleek and stylish in design, it’s
the technology behind Armillion products
that’s really impressive. Each bracelet acts as a
key to daily life, offering the wearer the
convenience of a world totally unlocked – but
with strict security measures.
The NFC technology behind the Armillion bracelet
not only provides bank-level encryption
to ensure safety and security, it now also allows
for contactless payments of up to £1,000,000
to made anywhere in the world, supported by
Mastercard.
Upon purchasing a bracelet, the owner is able to
link the serial number to their personal ID
information, using the Armillion App. Then, they
will have access to its balance and movements,
be able to turn payments on or off, and increase
spending limits where required.
Unlike most wearables with frustratingly limited
battery lives, Armillion bracelets never need
to be charged – they instead use the required
energy from the very process of making
contactless payments, via card readers. Time to

RISE OF THE
SOCIAL MEDIA
INFLUENCERS
As social media becomes a more integrated
part of our lives, influencer marketing has
exploded. People are turning to their favorite
Instagram and Twitter personalities and
YouTube stars for advice and recommendations
on purchasing decisions.
These influencers are trusted by millions of
consumers, and marketers are paying attention.
It turns out 86% of them used influencer
marketing since last year, and budgets for
influencer marketing are skyrocketing.
Social media has given normal people an
opportunity to build their own brand through
stimulating content and engagement.
These new influencers are more relatable and
approachable than traditional celebrities.
Since more people are joining social media
networks every day, companies have begun to
realise they can leverage these platforms for
promoting their services and offers.
SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER HAVE TAKEN
WORD OF MOUTH TO A NEW LEVEL
Word of mouth has always been one of the
most effective forms of marketing, but it can
be limited in its reach. One satisfied customer
telling a few friends does little for the overall
success of a business.
Social media influencers, however, are able to
reach a huge number of followers. All they need
is to develop a sense of trust by creating honest
articles and videos.
WE SEE THEM HERE, WE SEE THEM THERE BUT JUST WHAT IS A

HOW TO BE A SOCIAL
MEDIA INFLUENCER
FIND YOUR NICHE
The influencer market is crowded – and
this is only going to get more and more
busy as the industry grows. Your first port
of call on your journey to becoming a social
media influencer is to find your niche.
BUILD YOUR BRAND
Research the industry you’re going to
attempt to be influencing. Who are the
main influencers in the game? Which sorts
of content are getting engagement within
this industry? Which brands are working with
influencers in this industry?
FIND YOUR NICHE
Figure out which platforms you want
to engage with, and start to build your
social media platforms appropriately. It’s
important to understand each social media
platform before you begin to strategise.
Knowing what works best on each platform will
help you stand out.
Put Your Personality Across
The influencer market is crowded – and this is
only going to get more and more busy as the
industry grows. Your first port of call on your
journey to becoming a social media influencer

TRENDING SPRING COCKTAILS
Aperol originated in Padua, Italy and
while it was originally created in 1919,
it did not become successful until after
World War II. This Italian aperitif
is made of bitter orange, gentian,
rhubarb, and cinchona.
Aperol Spritz is known to be the most
widespread and commonly drunk
before a meal in Italy. This traditional
icebreaker is a symbol of a lively
atmosphere.
Traditionally served in a wine glass
with Aperol, Prosecco, soda water, a
slice of orange, and several ice cubes.
• A bottle of chilled Prosecco
• A bottle of Aperol
• Soda, served from a syphon
or chilled bottle
• Tall balloon or wine glasses
• Ice cubes
• Slices of orange
1. Fill the glasses generously with
cubed ice
2. First pour 3 Parts of Prosecco
(75ml) over the ice
3. Pour 2Parts Aperol (50ml)
into each glass in a circular
movement
4. Finish with a dash of Soda

As much as we all love the emotional rollercoaster that is
Game of Thrones, we all know the real reason that everyone’s
watching is because we’re all just dying to know who will
ultimately win Game of Thrones and sit on the infamous throne.
Before we go any further, we must insert our SPOILER alert
warning for anyone who has foolishly elected not to watch the
show and read this article. Now let the battle commence.
Jon Snow
For almost seven seasons, it seems like everything was gearing
up for Jon Snow, the bastard son of Ned Stark to become king
of the entire realm. Then thanks to buzzkill Bran, we discovered
that was not going to happen.
He’s exceedingly strong, wise, and seemingly, stab proof
having came back from the dead. Loved by TEAM JON
north and south of The Wall, he probably do well supporting
whoever wins.
WHO WILL WIN THE
GAME OF THRONES?
38
Page 39
ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION / MUSIC / CINEMA / GADGETS
Sansa Stark
Despite an awful start, Sansa
really came into her own
the last few seasons. She
was taken advantage of by
powerful men and women
throughout the entire series.
Considered “boring” until she
on turned on Littlefinger to
prove she really was a Stark
after all.
Bran
Okay... He is on paper, the
favourite to win the throne.
We know he can time travel,
he can take over minds and
bodies at will and more
importantly, we kind of know
that he is The Knight King. He
has more power than any
one but the only problem is,
nobody really likes him.
Gentry
The Blacksmith. The dude
that Arya’s got the hots for
and most notably, the only
living relative of the former
king Robert Baratheon. The
direct descendant may be a
bastard, but he’s still Robert’s
son and that counts for
something. An outsider but a
contender nonetheless.
Page 40
Daenerys Targaryen
Khaleesi already knows what it means to be a badass leader
in the face of adversity, and unlike Jon Snow she’s “pure”
Targaryen, which gives her the greatest “right” to the Iron
Throne, that is, behind Jon Snow, as he is older than her, and
a male Targaryen descendant.
The only thing that leads people to believe it won’t be Dany
is the fact that it all seems so obvious. She’s been an exiled
Queen, learning how to rule and gathering an army in a
foreign land. And let us not forget she has two dragons that
seem to have a way of getting people to respect here.
Cersei Lannister
There are several prophecies throughout Game of Thrones
that nothing will go well for Cersei and as for her children’s
lives, it turns out that those prophecies have all come true.
With all that said, there is a ruthlessness to Cersei that means
you cannot rule her out.
She has the knowledge handed down from her father and
certainly has the resources. She has already shown she would
sacrifice (and sleep with) anyone to achieve her goals.
Could the sharped tounge, wine sipping Cersei really win the
game of thrones? We certainly think so.
THE REAL CONTENDERS...
NOTABLE MENTIONS....
Whilst they have little to no chance of winning the throne, these three characters certainly deserve
mentioning for their contributions to the cause.
Page 41
It’s near impossible to keep up with TV.
There’s just so much more of it — so many
episodes, so many seaso ns!
With that in mind, we’ve selected two shows

donor, including some that are troublingly
sinister. Chambers is available to watch now.
Amazon Prime’s Good Omens

THE NAME IS ALBA
IDRIS ALBA AS BOND 25 LAUNCHES
IN JAMAICA, WE ASK CAN
IDRIS REALLY PLAY BOND?
The internet wants Idris Elba to be James Bond, but
Idris Elba just wants to have fun with the internet.
It is clear that the aging Daniel Craig cannot play
bond for ever and Idris Elba’s name has been
bounced around as a future Bond for years now,
including the infamous 2014 Sony leak when an
email leaked from Sony Pictures senior executive
Amy Pascal revealed her feeling that “Idris should
be the next Bond.”
At the time of the leak, Elba said that he would
“absolutely” take the role if it was offered to him.
The question however remains, can a black actor
play Britain’s most quintessential spy who has
been portrayed by white middle aged men for 56
years?
The answer is an obvious yes. The year is 2019 and
so far, Bond has been played by an American, an
Australian and Irish man. Changing a character’s
accent is one thing, changing his ethnicity on the
other hand is an entirely different conversion.
It has been a conversation that has fans of the
franchise split and the general public confused.
A large section of 007 fans firmly believe that
whilst Idris is a great actor and could handle the
role easily, changing Bond’s race just doesn’t work.
Idris fans hit back with the fact that Bond is simply a
non-aging fictional character who can be played
by anyone including a woman.
Bond creator Ian Fleming portrayed Bond as a
tall, athletic, handsome secret agent in his thirties
or forties; he has several vices including drinking,
smoking, gambling, automobiles and womanising.
None of these traits are race specific but after
fifty six years and seven actors who have all been
white men, is it too late to change his race?
As mentioned before, the year is 2019 and Bond’s
1960s character has been toned down - less
womanising, less drinking and fewer cigars. Bond
is in need of a change but this potential shake up
may stir up too many problems at the box office.
42
Page 43
“BOND IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST FRANCHISES IN THE WORLD,
AND FOR THAT REASON, WHOEVER ENDS UP PLAYING IT, LIVES
IT,”
“YOU’RE THAT CHARACTER, AND KNOWN AS THAT CHARACTER
FOR MANY, MANY YEARS. I’M CREATING CHARACTERS NOW
THAT CAN STILL LIVE ALONGSIDE IDRIS. NOT ONES THAT TAKE
OVER ME AND SOLELY DEFINE ME.”

Westeros and Essos need a new soundtrack

The Weeknd, SZA, and Travis Scott have all

called “Power is Power” and there’s a lot of

Three boys tear through their rural New York
hometown, in the midst of their young parents’
volatile love that makes and unmakes the family
many times over.
While Manny and Joel grow into versions of their
loving and unpredictable father (Raúl Castillo),
Ma seeks to keep her youngest, Jonah, in the
cocoon of home. More sensitive and conscious
than his older siblings, Jonah increasingly
embraces an imagined world all his own.
With screenplay by Dan Kitrosser and Jeremiah

from its astounding cast – including three

Avengers: Endgame” is the
culmination of a decade of
blockbuster filmmaking, the
result of years of work from
thousands of people.
It is designed to be the
most blockbuster of all the
blockbusters, a movie with a
dozen subplots colliding, and
familiar faces from over 20
other movies. It’s really like
nothing that Hollywood has
produced before.
Tolkien explores the
circumstances that shaped
Tolkien into becoming the
author of the world’s most
famous fantasy novels.
The film will show how the
marriage of young Tolkien to
Edith Bratt was interrupted in
1914 by World War I. After
deliberation, Tolkien enlisted,
experiencing four years of
the world-altering global
conflagration.
The experiences would become
the inspiration for Tolkien’s
conception of 1937’s The
Hobbit.
A mythology he would
expand exponentially with
1954-1955’s The Lord of the
Rings novel trilogy, along with
several supplemental Middle-
earth-based stories, many
of which would be published
posthumously under the
editorial stewardship of his son
Christopher.
It turns out Pokemon Detective
Pikachu isn’t half bad.
Set in Ryme City, a neon-
soaked experimental world in
which humans and Pokemon
co-exist in relative harmony,
the truly trippy production has
a few entertaining moments.
There were a couple of
telling clues that pointed in
that direction, primarily the
welcome presence of Ryan
Reynolds, who has brought
a generous sampling of his
sardonic Deadpool sensibility
to the voicing of the title role.
Taking many of its plot points
from the 2016 Nintendo game
of the same name, the storyline
is centered around Tim
Goodman (Justice Smith), the
affably nerdy 21-year-old son
of a private investigator who is
believed to have perished in a
suspicious car crash.

After mutiple bad reviews citing broken
displays, Samsung has delayed the debut
of its Galaxy Fold foldable smartphone.
“To fully evaluate this feedback and run
further internal tests, we have decided to
delay the release of the Galaxy Fold. We
plan to announce the release date in the
coming weeks.”
Considering the fallout surrounding the
company’s previous high-profile hardware
bust—2016’s Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and
its exploding battery—the decision seems
prudent. And while the Galaxy Fold’s
botched launch is certainly a black eye for
Samsung, it’s one that should quickly fade
when the phones are updaed and go on
sale to the general public.
At £1800, this phone is certainly not for
the masses. It could be a very expensive
fail for Samsung but the very fact they are
innovating and trying to enter this space is
a good thing.
Apple have continued it’s recent
downward spiralling trend of being less
initiative so we need at least one of the big
three mobile phone manufactuers to push
new ideas and tech.
A small bump in the road or should we
say screen should not spell the end for
the foldable phone. Whilst Apple may
be years away from entering this space,
focusing on payments and streaming
services, Huawei seem to have got it right
even though they have gone a different
way.
The Huawei Mate X got unveiled at
MWC 2019, and it folds the other way
to Samsung’s device – so the screen
wraps around the outside, rather than
being hidden away on the inside, when
it’s snapped shut. If you like the look of it,
you’d better start saving.
SAMSUNG FOLD ON THE FOLD?
SAMSUNG HAS POSTPONED THE RELEASE OF ITS
FOLDING SMARTPHONE BUT DOES THAT SPELL THE END?

Fitness and exercise have come a long way.
Chasing the goal of fitness perfection, we
have seen and come across countless new
gadgets and formulas marketed as the next
best thing.
The latest fitness-tech brings the benefits of
infrared heat and vacuum to deliver more
results from excercise at the same time.
Be Fit Dunstable are one of the first to offer
vacu-therm in the Three Counties so we put
the tech to the test with the help of music artist,
Kellie D’loco Cox.
The Technology
Infrared heat is a form of electromagnetic
light energy that is invisible to the human eye.
It shows itself as heat and it can penetrate
through the skin to provide wellness benefits.

The thermal effect deep within the layers of
tissue can cause blood vessels and capillaries
to dilate, improving blood circulation and
helping the body to get rid of fats, toxins and
metabolic waste through via sweat.
Most people also produce sweat during
exercise, however, infrared induced
perspiration is a bit different as infrared can
penetrate deeply into the body to break up
fats and toxins, releasing them through sweat
glands and bodily functions.
The Equipment
Be Fit currently offer sessions on the Vacu
Therm recline bike, treadmill and body roll
massage.
Designed to offer better comfort, the
horizontal body position on the recline bike
makes this exercise very comfortable which
doesn’t put an excessive strain on the lower
limbs and back. Once in, the effects of the
vacuum and heat are instant.
The specially designed treadmill works just
like a traditional one, except that the pod’s
special feature is the vacuum system that
creates low atmospheric pressure, in which you
walk/run. The lower part of the body benefits
from increased circulation which accelerates
metabolism and the fat burning effect.
The use of the body roll massage helps not
only to support the body weight reduction, or
metabolism improvement. It is also an excellent
tool for post-traumatic rehabilitation.
The combination of the Be Fit
Technology with a cardio-training
(running, cycling) allows achieving
excellent results in a much shorter
time.

As we arrive at the business end
of the season, we are engrossed in
one of the tightest Premier League
finishes to date with just one point
between the top two.
Will Manchester City continue their dominance
and be the first team to retain the English
Premiership or will Liverpool burst their bubble
and secure their first top flight title in over 26
years. We take a closer look at two of Europe’s
top teams battling it out in arguably Europe’s top
league, Klopp & Guardiola, Red & Blue, Fire &
Ice!.
It is without doubt behind any successful football
team will sit a special manager, safe to say both
Liverpool and Manchester City are blessed with
genuine special ones.
Ice cool Pep Guardiola is cementing a legacy
as a manager with the power of back to back
league domination wherever he goes, as he
nears the end of his third season in the English
Premier league he has transformed Manchester
City into the high pressing, solid defending, quick
passing, goal-scoring machine we saw with both
Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona.
Finishing third in his first premiership season
Guardiola was quoted saying; “I don’t think
anyone regarded it as a season of transition,
if you don’t win a trophy it is a disaster”, too
harsh on himself maybe; but clearly his vision of
success was shooting for the stars and boy he
has some!
Having spent £518m since joining the citizens,
we could argue he has bought the success but
A BATTLE OF
Page 55
the realists amongst us know it takes a lot more
than generous purse strings to produce the kind
of team Manchester City has become. So which
fraction of half a billion pound has aided Pep in
imposing his philosophy on the premier league?
If you don’t concede you don’t lose and it’s
said a good goalkeeper can add ten points
to the season’s tally, Claudio Bravo was an
unsuccessful dummy run but Ederson is proving
to be the real deal. In a new era of ball playing
goalkeepers the tattooed Brazilian maybe the
best, with his rival compatriot Alisson not far
behind.
The inclusion of silky defender Aymeric Laporte
and gut busting full backs Kyle Walker and
Benjamin Mendy this has produced a solid City
rear-guard.
The national pairing of Germans Ilkay
Gundogan and Leroy Sane and Brazilian
starlet Gabriel Jesus, support the originals of
Kompany, De Bruyne, Fernandinho and David
Silva has been pivotal.
However we are missing a very special trio
who deserve a very special mention; with 67
goals between them Bernado Silva, Raheem
Sterling and Sergio Aguero are fast becoming
one of Europe’s most feared forward lines.
The latter has now scored twenty or more goals
in five consecutive premiership seasons, only
achieved by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
With Manchester City on the brink of a fantastic
treble, who can stop them this season; who can
stop them period...it’s time to talk Liverpool.
BLUE & RED
Page 56
56
Fire and passion that has made him an
honorary kopite , Jurgen Klopp arrived in the
Premiership just under four years ago and
what an arrival it has been. Very little was
known of the enigmatic German other than he
had led Borussia Dortmund to two Bundesliga
titles, one DFB Pokal Cup and at best a
Champions League quarter-final.
Not exactly ground breaking managerial
history, however those in the higher echelons
at Liverpool FC saw something in Klopp they
believed would help the club challenge on all
fronts.
Their belief was supported by allowing the
German free reign to change the side in
whichever way he deemed fit, and he did to the
tune of £382.8m
With arguably the divisions shrewdest transfer
dealings, Klopp sold Phillip Coutinho to Spanish
giants FC Barcelona for £142m while adding
Mane £30m, Salah £34m and Van Dyke £75m
a combined total of £139m. Not forgetting the
influential additions of Brazilians Alisson and
Fabinho, Dutchman Wijnaldum and Guinean
superstar Naby Keita.
Liverpool’s exciting brand of attacking but
sometimes gung-ho football has been perfectly
balanced by the inclusion of Virgil Van Dyke,
notwithstanding Real Madrid centre back Sergio
Ramos; Van Dyke is now considered the best
defender in the world recently winning the
coveted PFA Player of the Year.
With Manchester City’s forward line scoring
67 goals so far this season, the Liverpool trio
Race for the Premier League title

of Salah, Mane and Firmino have amassed
65 goals so far. Such fine lines between the
two and a notable mention that the Liverpool
manager is just over £135m shy of the City
manager’s expenditure, maybe it’s that
one superstar purchase that will bridge the
gap and allow Liverpool to halt the City
dominance.
Either way it’s time to grab the popcorn as
this is one end game that has no spoilers, sit
back and enjoy the end of another fantastic
premiership season.

GYM CLASS HERO
Boxing is a truly fantastic sport and it isn’t just
for those giant beasts of men that you see on
television. Boxing is a sport that everybody
can participate in and that makes a huge
difference.
Something that is very beneficial about the
sport of boxing is that it is excellent for your
cardiovascular health. One of the things that
makes boxing so great for your heart is that
the act of punching, any punch, forces very
many of your muscles to contract at once.
The next big benefit that you can reap from
boxing and training for boxing on a regular
basis is that you will develop better hand-eye
coordination.
The benefits of boxing go far beyond physical.
Boxing is proven to help with self-confidence;
not just physical confidence, mental too. It
can help with balance, co-ordination, focus,
anxiety and even ADHD.
AB Boxing specialises in coaching people
that are new to boxing. AB Boxing is not an
amateur boxing club, neither do we coach
Pro’s. Our target members are people that
have never boxed before, or have limited
experience.
AB Boxing coaches people that want to learn
how to box and get fit at the same time, on
a 1-on-1 basis (or 2-on-1, 3-on-1, etc), but
would rather not go to a boxing fitness class.
The misconception is that if you purely want
to get fit, a “boxing fitness class” would be a
better choice than a 1on1 technical boxing
session, however that isn’t entirely true.
TRENDLIFE MAGAZINE DISCUSS THE BENEFITS OF BOXING WITH
TRAINER AND BOXING EXPERT ANDREW BLUMSON OF AB BOXING
Page 58
Once you learn the technical side of boxing,
you will easily burn more calories doing an
hour’s boxing, than you would a fitness class.
A typical hour 1-on-1 session would comprise
of around 50-mins coaching, usually broken
down to 3-min rounds.
At the very beginning and presuming you
haven’t boxed at any level before, you learn
things such as stance, how to punch correctly,
how to load punches, etc. Footwork movement
comes later on, as does things such as blocking
and catching punches, high-guard, slipping
and rolling punches.
When a client gets to this stage, which is
usually after around 6 or 7 sessions, ‘light
touch sparring’ is introduced if the client wishes
to step up to this level.
Our primary focus is defence and safety. We
won’t let anyone spar, at any level, until we are
confident that they have at least basic defence.
When we introduce sparring, we start with
non-contact, simulated sparring, which gets
the members used to moving around, throwing
shots, and putting what they have learned into
practise.
There are numerous tricks that we use to allow
the members to feel like they’re sparring, but in
reality, they are ‘simulating’ sparring.
After a few weeks like this, we introduce ‘jab
sparring’. This is where you can only punch
with your lead hand; left in the case of an
orthodox boxer and right in the case of a
southpaw.
Within the technical side of boxing, there are
many different types of training. If you are
interested in starting your boxing journey, in
a friendly, safe, no ego gym, then get in touch
with Andrew or Nikki at AB Boxing.
Athlon Fitness where AB Boxing is based, is an
extremely friendly, welcoming gym. Ego’s are
left at the door, and everyone that trains there
has the utmost respect for each other.
AB Boxing Hertford is based at Athlon Fitness, Ware. It
is run by Andrew Blumson and his fellow Coach, Nikki
Oliver.
Andrew is also a Hatton Academy Elite Certified Coach.
Nikki is a Hatton Academy Advanced Certified Coach.

It is the remarkable history, timelessly
fascinating charm as well as products with
unique and ground breaking features that
characterise the MINI.
Even today, 60 years after introducing its
very first model, the British car manufacturer
continues to raise the bar in terms of driving
fun, striking design and individuality.
Across multiple generations the unrivalled
go-cart feeling and space-optimising interior
continues to attract an ever-growing fanbase.
In this, the year of its landmark anniversary,
MINI reflects on six decades of inspiration and
presents 50 design pieces in the characteristic
style of the iconic brand.
Inspired by MINI’s racing past, the MINI 60
Years Lifestyle Collection offers a brand new
clothing range for women, men and children.
Alongside the design the pieces, of course
MINI have also launched a new 60th
anniversary MINI with an exclusive design –
specific design features for the exterior and
interior emphasise the authentic background
and agile character of the original in the small
car segment.
The special edition MINI 3 Door and MINI 5
Door is available in four engine variants.
