Skin Care Regime & Must Have Holiday Beauty Products



I would like to introduce myself, I am Jade-Jenna, a beauty, fashion and photography blogger from St Albans Hertfordshire. My blog features my photography work amongst beauty tips and tricks and my obsession with getting a celebrity styled outfit for a bargain price.

Summer is here and the sun is well and truly shinning. Holidays are in full swing and it’s easy to forget about your skincare; with sun, sea and sangria on most peoples minds it’s quite easy not to pack the daily essentials to keeping your skin as fresh and youthful as possible. Very important with the amount of sun that your skin is likely to be subjected to. I now religiously ensure my 3 main products are with me on every getaway.

Looking back on the days of hunting through my mum’s lotions and potions dotted all around the bathroom and on her dresser, I have grown accustom to a range of beauty products with little knowledge of how to use them. I did however have a talent for picking out the most expensive product (unbeknown to me) and sneakily using it to be more like my mum. When I was younger I didn’t quite know what I was using; I now do my research into the products I use and the benefits I will get from them. I have a combination skin type. In some parts it is oily and in others it is dry. I have used a few products and had trouble with breakouts.

*TIPS for combination skin like mine (oily and dry) wash your face using a gel-based or mild foaming cleanser can prevent dryness and irritation*

For my recent holiday I packed my 3 most favourite products right now by Liz Earle. Skin Repair Moisturiser, Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser.

I am loving the way my skin feels after I’ve used them. They leave a smooth, dewy, fresh faced glow. What more could you ask for?! They are a great addition to my product collection, a great purchase in my opinion. Not only is it great and reliable it has won over 80 prestigious beauty awards and accolades, and was voted the Most Revolutionary Beauty Product of the Last 20 Years by the CEW (UK).

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser // £19.25

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic // £13.25

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser // £14.75

Skin Regime: First wash face with two to three pumps of the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. Soak muslin cloth in warm water and ring out, (Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish usually come with one or two cloths.) The muslin cloth is great for removing dead skin cells, a gentle way to exfoliate the face, especially if you suffer with sensitive skin. Finish by splashing face with cool water.

Secondly get a large wool pad and pour on Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, sweep over face and continue until all face has been covered. This is a great alcohol free based toner and is gentle on the skin. It contains aloe vera and leaves the skin with a small layer of moisture which makes the skin feel instantly cool and fresh.

*TIPS for toner use; Only use toners that are filled with a healthy dose of skin-repairing ingredients such as skin identical ingredients, antioxidants and cell communicating ingredients.*

Lastly use the moisturiser best suited to you. I prefer to use Liz Earle Skin Repair from the Liz Earle products but also have Clarins Skin, Beauty Repair Concentrate or Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream. I like to feel that my skin is fully moisturised without leaving an oily or shiny residue.

Finally moving onto my MUST HAVE for the holiday beauty bag! Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. The orange petroleum gel is quite frankly a skin care cult classic; It is a fantastic product, with so many benefits. It is great for burns as I learnt a few years ago when falling asleep in the sun. This product contains an anti-inflammatory and soothes the burn instantly. I have never looked back, this product is a serious MUST to take on holiday. This product works great if your skin has burnt or any irritation.

Katie Godfrey is the powerhouse behind the KG brand, single-handedly building her empire from a single salon bought aged 19 as a school leaver with no qualifications, to a chain of salons, a UK-wide beauty training academy, an eyelash product range and a salon coaching business. 

Katie left school at 13 after being bullied, but this only made her more determined to succeed in life. Her Bedfordshire beauty salon became a go-to destination and after being named Eyelash Technician of the Year in 2014, Katie started to rack up the awards winning 15 to date, and securing press coverage nationally including the likes of OK and Hello, as well as pampering various celebrities. 

Now you’re as likely to find her judging awards as winning them – she’s co-owner of the “World Lash University” conference & awards which is partnered with “The Lash Games” at Olympia Beauty, and has her own podcast, “The Life Of KG”, aimed at those in the hair and beauty space but also relatable to anyone in business. 

How Katie Godfrey expanded her brand

Going on to own a chain of franchise salons, Katie then sold these to focus on education, aiming to raise standards across salons and within the industry. She launched KG Professional, a beauty training academy which now has branches in Bedfordshire, Southampton, Gloucestershire, Derbyshire, Milton Keynes, Sussex and Essex, and an eyelash product range.

Within 6 months of launch, the eyelash range was selling into 500 salons and is now sold globally. Katie was one of the first trainers in the UK to teach Russian Volume Lashes, flying to New York to learn and then bring the techniques back.

In addition to maintaining the salon and pro businesses, Katie is a dedicated business mentor and looks after over 35 salons. She started this side business 3 years ago after being inundated by businesses coming to her for help as a result of her success story – she offers 1-2-1 and group mentoring sessions, and aims to launch the first comprehensive online business course for the hair and beauty industry imminently. She talks regularly at colleges and events about her story and is passionate about motivating others to build their careers. She is one of the authors of number 1 best-selling book, ‘Extraordinary Women’, and co-owner of “Salon Franchise,” a consultancy company in the hair & beauty industry. 

Katie’s achievements are all the more impressive considering she has done this while single-handedly parenting her daughter. She is testament to the goals that can be reached with determination and hard work and is inspiring and helping many others to do the same.

Milton Keynes welcomes new Next Beauty and Home concept store



We may have leaked some news a few weeks ago but it is now official. Fashion retailer NEXT has announced the expansion of its beauty business with the exciting news of four new ‘Beauty & Home’ stores. Milton Keynes and three other UK locations will welcome the new Next Beauty and Home concept stores. Milton Keynes’ very own Next Beauty and Home store will open its doors on Friday 2nd October, in the former Debenhams store at intu Milton Keynes Shopping Centre.

As well as selling clothing and home furnishing, NEXT currently sells over 250 beauty brands on Following on from a successful online collaboration of Fabled by Marie Claire, which launched Beauty on in October 2018, Next has been interested in expanding the brand into the beauty world.

The aim of the new concept stores is to create a premium retail environment for beauty products, to complement the offer NEXT already carries online. Alongside this, NEXT’s well-loved Home and Lingerie collections will also be available within the new stores; which will further expand the lifestyle offer available to Next customers in Buckinghamshire.

The Milton Keynes Store will stock premium brands including; Armani Beauty, Bare Minerals, Benefit, Clarins, Clinique, Estee Lauder, GHD, Lancome, MAC, Origins, Too Faced, Urban Decay, and YSL. The store will also offer a range of premium beauty services in-store.

Next – A High Street innovator

British clothing retailer Next is used to launching new concepts. After opening its first Next Store in 1982, Next launched ‘Next for Men‘ in 1984. One year later saw the launch of their first home interiors range. 1987 brought the birth of NEXT childrenswear. 1988 was the launch of NEXT Directory – the brand’s innovative new concept for in-home shopping. Next has always been an innovator and the launch of Next Beauty and Home could be the much needed retail therapy we need in these testing times.
