Mischief, the comedy company behind global hit The Play That Goes Wrong, is taking its latest West End success on the road for the first time, and Milton Keynes is on the itinerary. The Comedy About Spies lands at Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 August 2027 as part of its first-ever UK tour.
An award-winning West End hit
The show won Best New Play at the 2026 WhatsOnStage Awards and earned an Olivier nomination for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play. It opened at the Noël Coward Theatre in 2025, then returned for a second sold-out West End run at the Adelphi Theatre from August to September 2026.
CIA. KGB. LOL.
The setting is 1960s London. When a rogue British agent steals plans for a top-secret weapon, CIA and KGB spies descend on the Piccadilly Hotel in pursuit of the elusive file. Add a clueless young couple, a hapless actor chasing a part in a spy movie and enough double agents to confuse the sharpest operative, and the mission soon spirals out of control. Expect bungled missions, tangled identities and catastrophic miscommunication: classic Mischief territory.
Who’s behind it
The play is written by original Mischief members Henry Lewis and Henry Shields and directed by Matt DiCarlo, with set design by David Farley and costumes by Deborah Andrews. It is presented by Kenny Wax and Stage Presence in association with Jo Danvers. Casting for the tour is still to be announced.

If you’ve laughed at The Play That Goes Wrong, this one is an easy booking. August 2027 is a long way off, but Mischief shows sell well, so it’s worth getting tickets while there’s plenty of choice.
